Willkommen auf der Homepage der Free Software Foundation Europe. Die FSFE beschäftigt sich seit dem 10. März 2001 aus europäischer Sicht mit allen Aspekten Freier Software. Sie unterstützt insbesondere das GNU-Projekt, leistet aber auch für die Entwicklung und Verbesserung anderer Freier Software und GNU-basierter Systeme wie GNU/Linux einen wichtigen Beitrag. Weiterhin stellt sie ein Kompetenzzentrum für Politiker, Anwälte und Journalisten zur Verfügung, um die juristische, politische und gesellschaftliche Zukunft Freier Software zu gewährleisten.

Die Arbeit der FSFE wird durch die Beiträge vieler Einzelner ermöglicht, insbesondere durch das Fellowship der FSFE. Wenn auch Sie etwas zum großen Ganzen der FSFE beitragen wollen, können Sie jetzt beitreten und andere dazu zu ermutigen, das auch zu tun.

Geburtstag des GNU-Projekts! 2008-09-27 Heute vor 25 Jahren wurde das GNU-Projekt angekündigt, eine bahnbrechende Initiative um ein Betriebssystem zu entwickeln, das allen Nutzern die Freiheit gibt es zu verändern und modifizierte Versionen zu veröffentlichen - individuell oder in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen. Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) gratuliert zu den wesentlichen Errungenschaften des ersten Vierteljahrhunderts und freut sich weiterhin darauf, das gemeinsame Ziel, Freie Software, voranzutreiben. Nächste Veranstaltungen Fellowship-Treffen in Frankfurt/M., Deutschland 2008-10-08 Mittwoch, 8. Oktober, das erste Fellowship Treffen im Rhein/Main-Gebiet wird in Frankfurt stattfinden: Wir treffen uns im "Club Voltaire, Kleine Hochstraße 5 (2 Minuten von der Alten Oper entfernt), 60313 Frankfurt am Main um 19:00 Uhr. Zurich Fellowship meeting 2008-10-10 There will be a Fellowship meeting at the FSFE Zurich office from 19:00 until 20:30 on Friday the 10th of October. Some free (as in beer) beer will be provided and all Fellows nearby are invited to attend. It will be a good chance to get to know each other in person, to discuss ways of spreading the word about Free Software in Switzerland, and to generally have a good time. This meeting will be hosted by Benjamin Morant, FSFE's intern at the Zurich Office. If you are coming to the meeting please let Benjamin know by sending an email to morant@fsfeurope.org. 'Licensing questions and other legal issues' workshop in Zurich, Switzerland 2008-10-17 Shane Coughlan, Freedom Task Force coordinator at FSFE, will deliver a two day course entitled 'Free Software licenses and other questions' at the Digicomp Academy Zurich, Switzerland. The course is intended for project managers, developers and technicians who wish to become more knowledgeable regarding code distribution options. FSCONS 2008, Gothenburg, Sweden 2008-10-24 2008-10-26 For 2008, FSCONS is a collaboration of FSFE, Creative Commons, and Wikimedia Sweden. There will be three tracks (Free Culture, Free Software, Free Content), each lead by one of the main organisers. Topics will range from modern kernel design over citizen journalism all the way across to licensing in the 21st century. NLUUG Autumn Conference and CELF Embedded Linux Conference Europe, Ede, Netherlands 2008-11-06 2008-11-07 The FSFE will be attending the NLUUG Autumn Conference on Thursday 6th November. This year's theme is 'mobility'. Feel free to come to our booth and ask about Free Software! Shane Coughlan, Freedom Task Force coordinator at FSFE, will also deliver talk entitled 'The strategic implementation of free software in business' at the CELF Embedded Linux Conference Europe 2008 at the same location on the following day, Friday 7th November. The successful implementation of Free Software requires an understanding of the best policy and processes applicable to its context. Shane will discuss how FSFE's legal project and its European Legal Network have engaged with this issue by producing generic market knowledge for supply and purchasing contracts, work flow documents and deployment methodology.
